As a result of the fresh snow, snowdrift accumulations are being blanketed over and thereby become more difficult to recognize on-site. \n In Grisons and in the Valais more than anywhere else, weak layers are evident in the ground level old snow above approximately 2200 to 2400 m in all aspects. However, for more than a week, no further dry-snow avalanches have been registered as having triggered in these weak layers. Stability tests have also demonstrated that these layers are no longer prone to fractures or fracture propagation. \n The snowpack on very steep south-facing slopes up to nearly 2800 m, on east-facing and west-facing slopes up to approximately 2200 m, is thoroughly wet. In high Alpine regions the avalanche prone locations are a little more prevalent. Somewhat older wind slabs are to be evaluated with care and prudence. "avalancheActivityComment": "Avalanches can reach medium size in isolated cases. The mostly shallow wind slabs of the last few days are in some cases prone to triggering. This applies in particular in shady places that are protected from the wind. The wind slabs are to be found in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls and generally in the high Alpine regions. They are covered with new snow in some cases and therefore difficult to recognise. \n The wind slabs are to be evaluated with care and prudence in steep terrain. Apart from the danger of being buried, restraint should be exercised as well in view of the danger of avalanches sweeping people along and giving rise to falls."
