On steep, grass-covered slopes, more frequent glide-snow slides and avalanches have been observed in the last few days. Avalanche danger assessment Avalanche danger is considerable at high altitudes, lower down altitude danger is moderate. Main danger: fresh and older. Small-to-medium slab avalanches can be triggered even by the weight of one single skier. If an avalanche fractures in more deeply embedded weak layers inside the snowpack, it can grow to large size. Older snowdrifts have been blanketed-over, are hard to recognize. Size and frequency of avalanche prone locations increase with ascending altitude. Backcountry activities demand experience in assessing risks on-site and knowledge of local terrain. Naturally triggered small-to-medium loose-snow avalanches are possible in very steep terrain. Below 2000 m oon steep grass-covered slopes, hillsides and in forest lanes, mostly in E-S-W aspects, increasingly frequent small-to-medium glide-snow avalanches are possible.
