Avalanche danger assessment Mostly low avalanche danger prevails this morning, moderate danger at high altitudes. Older snowdrift accumulations or weak old snow can be triggered primarily by large additional loading. When an avalanche fractures in more deeply embedded weak layers, in isolated cases it can grow to medium size. With ascending altitude and in high alpine regions, small fresh drifts behind protruberances and in rigeline terrain require caution. Particularly on very steep shady slopes, a defensive route selection is recommended. On steep grass-covered slopes, hillsides and in forest lanes, increasingly frequent small-to-medium glide-snow avalanches are possible. Glide-cracks are indicators of this danger.
