Wind slabs
Avalanche prone locations
In all aspects above approximately 2400m.
Danger description
Fresh wind slabs are mostly small but can in some cases be released easily. They are to be evaluated with care and prudence in very steep terrain. At elevated altitudes the avalanche prone locations are a little more prevalent. Apart from the danger of being buried, restraint should be exercised as well in view of the danger of avalanches sweeping people along and giving rise to falls. Careful route selection is advisable.
