Snowpack
In isolated cases avalanches can be triggered in the near-surface layers. In most cases avalanches sweep away the fresh snow and freshly generated snowdrifts of this last week.
In addition, loose-snow avalanches can be triggered on extremely steep north-facing slopes.

Nocturnal skies in the western regions were partly clear, in the southern regions predominantly clear, in other regions of Switzerland skies were overcast. During the daytime hours in the southern and western regions it was partly sunny, elsewhere skies were mostly overcast accompanied by isolated showers.

Temperature
At midday at 2000 m, -3 °C in the southern regions and -5 °C in the northern regions.
Wind
Winds were blowing at light to moderate strength from northerly directions.

Nighttime skies in the western regions will be clear, elsewhere skies will be overcast accompanied by isolated showers. During the daytime in the western and southern regions it will be quite sunny, otherwise predominantly overcast.

Tuesday
On Tuesday it will be quite sunny, accompanied by convective cloud build-up and isolated showers during the course of the day. The zero-degree level is expected to ascend to approximately 2000 m.
The danger of dry-snow avalanches will continue to decrease gradually. The danger of wet-snow avalanches is expected to increase somewhat during the course of the day.
Wednesday
Skies will be variably cloudy with sunny intervals. A small amount of precipitation is anticipated in the Valais and the southern regions more than anywhere else. The danger of dry-snow avalanches will increase somewhat there.
Particularly in the northern regions, danger of wet-snow avalanches will increase to a certain degree during the course of the day.
