Wind slabs
Avalanche prone locations
In particular in west to north to southeast facing aspects above approximately 2200m.
Danger description
As a consequence of new snow and a strong southwesterly wind, wind slabs will form. In many cases wind slabs are lying on the soft surface of an old snowpack. Avalanches can in some places be released by a single winter sport participant and reach medium size. Apart from the danger of being buried, restraint should be exercised in particular in view of the danger of avalanches sweeping people along and giving rise to falls.
