Danger description

As a consequence of new snow and a strong northwesterly wind, sometimes large wind slabs formed at elevated altitudes. They are lying on the unfavourable surface of an old snowpack in particular on shady slopes. Even single backcountry tourers or freeriders can release avalanches easily. Remotely triggered and natural avalanches are possible.
Weak layers exist in the bottom section of the snowpack. Avalanches can also penetrate deep layers and reach dangerously large size.
Medium-sized and large natural wet avalanches are possible below approximately 2400 m. Exposed parts of transportation routes can be endangered occasionally.
Backcountry touring and other off-piste activities call for extensive experience in the assessment of avalanche danger and great restraint.
