Individual weak layers exist in the old snowpack in particular in Valais and in the western part of the northern flank of the Alps. \n Winter sport participants can release avalanches in some places, including medium-sized ones. In high Alpine regions the avalanche prone locations are a little more prevalent and exist in all aspects. Careful route selection is recommended. From these layers, isolated large-sized avalanches were triggered by persons during the last week. "avalancheActivityComment": "In some places avalanches can be triggered in the weakly bonded old snow and reach a dangerous size. This applies especially in little used backcountry terrain. The avalanche prone locations are rather rare but are barely recognisable, even to the trained eye. Backcountry touring and other off-piste activities call for defensive route selection. \n The wind slabs of the last few days are to be evaluated with care and prudence in steep terrain. Below approximately 2200 m gliding avalanches are possible, in particular on very steep sunny slopes."
