Mostly favourable conditions. Careful route selection, especially on steep slopes of indicated aspects and altitude zones.

Triggering is generally possible only from high additional loads** in isolated areas of very steep, extreme terrain*. Only small and medium natural avalanches are possible.
* The avalanche-prone locations are described in greater detail in the avalanche bulletin (altitude, slope aspect, type of terrain).
• moderately steep terrain: slopes shallower than about 30 degrees
• steep slopes: slopes steeper than about 30 degrees
• very steep, extreme terrain: particularly adverse terrain related to slope angle (more than about 40 degrees), terrain profile, proximity to ridge, smoothness of underlying ground surface
** Additional loads:
• low: individual skier / snowboarder, riding softly, not falling; snowshoer; group with good spacing (minimum 10m) keeping distances
• high: two or more skiers / snowboarders etc. without good spacing (or without intervals); snowmachine; explosives
natural: without human influence

DANGER DESCRIPTION
Within the snowpack, in all aspects, persistent weak layers are recorded and, in alpine terrain, it is possible to trigger slab avalanches that can still reach medium sizes. In alpine terrain, mainly on Easterly slope, isolated, unstable, small wind slabs will form.
TRAVEL AND TERRAIN ADVICE
Whumpfing sounds are clear danger signs, approach steep slopes and transitions from deep to shallow snowpack with caution. Pay attention to wind-sheltered areas and slope changes. At all aspects it is possible to hit rocks either by skiing, falling or if caught in an avalanche. Conditions are mostly unfavourable for skiing excursions.
SNOW COVER CHARACTERISTICS
Above the treeline the snowpack has a weak structure with persistent weak layers alternating with melt-freeze crusts which are covered by a more cohesive slab. The snowpack surface is strongly wind-affected and, below 2300 m and on the steep southern slopes, characterised by a melt-freeze crust. Below the treeline, at all aspects, a thin snowpack is recorded.
