The freezing level initially will be around 600 metres rising to 800 metres by evening.\nObserved Weather Influences: Heavy rain sleet and snow with strong to gale Westerly winds have affected the area. The freezing level rose this morning to around the highest tops with a lowering trend later to around 600 metres. Further snow showers heavy at times are expected through the afternoon.\nObservedSnowStability: Unstable accumulations of windslab are forming in wind sheltered locations, greatest accumulations are in sheltered gullies and on North through East to South-Easterly aspects mainly above 850 metres. A return to colder conditions is aiding the consolidation process within the older wet snowpack. The avalanche hazard is Moderate."
