New snow and wind slabs require caution.

The large quantity of fresh snow and in particular the wind slabs formed during the snowfall can be released by a single winter sport participant in all aspects above the tree line. Remotely triggered avalanches are possible, in particular in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain. In addition medium-sized and, in isolated cases, large natural avalanches are possible.
In addition there is a danger of natural moist avalanches, in particular on steep grassy slopes below approximately 2200 m, as well as at the base of rock walls.
Areas with glide cracks are to be avoided as far as possible.

Snowpack

Over a wide area over a wide area 20 to 40 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, fell on Wednesday above approximately 1500 m. The wind was strong to storm force at times. In places that are protected from the wind sometimes large wind slabs formed. These are poorly bonded with the old snowpack in all aspects above the tree line.
Over a wide area 10 to 20 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, will fall on Thursday above approximately 1500 m.
The wind slabs will be covered with new snow in some cases and therefore difficult to recognise.

Tendency

New snow and wind slabs require caution. Some snow will fall on Friday in some localities. The avalanche danger will persist.

Fresh wind slabs are to be evaluated critically. In addition an increasing number of medium-sized loose snow avalanches are to be expected.

As a consequence of new snow and a strong to storm force wind, further wind slabs will form. These can be released easily by a single winter sport participant in particular on steep west, north and east facing slopes. Caution is to be exercised in particular in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain. The prevalence of avalanche prone locations and likelihood of triggering will increase with altitude.
Medium-sized and, in isolated cases, large natural avalanches are possible especially in the regions exposed to heavier precipitation. This applies in particular on very steep shady slopes adjacent to ridgelines at elevated altitudes.

More frequent loose snow avalanches are to be expected, even medium-sized ones, in the event of prolonged bright spells especially.

In addition a latent danger of gliding avalanches exists. This applies on steep grassy slopes below approximately 2600 m. Mostly avalanches are medium-sized. Areas with glide cracks are to be avoided.

Backcountry touring calls for experience and a certain restraint.
