A favourable avalanche situation will be encountered over a wide area. The somewhat older wind slabs are unlikely to be released now. Individual avalanche prone locations are to be found on very steep shady slopes at elevated altitudes.
Snowpack
dp.6: cold, loose snow and wind
The snowpack will be stable over a wide area. The wind slabs have bonded generally well with each other and the old snowpack. They remain in some cases prone to triggering on very steep shady slopes at elevated altitudes.
Tendency
The avalanche conditions remain favourable. The danger of wet avalanches will increase a little during the day.
Danger level
Currently there are favourable conditions generally. Wind slabs require caution.
Winter sport participants can release avalanches only in isolated cases. The fresh wind slabs are mostly small but can be released in isolated cases. They are to be evaluated with care and prudence in particular on very steep shady slopes at elevated altitudes. Avalanches can additionally in very isolated cases be released in the weakly bonded old snow also. These avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular on very steep shady slopes and at transitions from a shallow to a deep snowpack. They are very rare but are difficult to recognise. In many places there is a danger of falling on the hard snow surface.
Snowpack
dp.6: cold, loose snow and wind dp.1: deep persistent weak layer
In particular in the south up to 10 cm of snow has fallen since Wednesday. The southeasterly wind has transported only a little snow. In particular at elevated altitudes mostly small wind slabs formed. The weather conditions will foster a gradual stabilisation of the snow drift accumulations. In very isolated cases weak layers exist in the centre of the snowpack, in particular on steep shady slopes at elevated altitudes. Sunshine and high temperatures will give rise as the day progresses to slight moistening of the snowpack in particular on very steep sunny slopes.
Tendency
The avalanche conditions remain mostly favourable. The danger of wet avalanches will increase a little during the day.

Wind slabs require caution.
The wind slabs are to be evaluated with care and prudence in particular on very steep shady slopes above approximately 2600 m. Winter sport participants can release avalanches in isolated cases. Avalanches can additionally in very isolated cases be released in the weakly bonded old snow also. These avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular on very steep shady slopes and at transitions from a shallow to a deep snowpack, especially at elevated altitudes in the central and eastern parts of the main Alpine ridge.
Snowpack
dp.6: cold, loose snow and wind dp.1: deep persistent weak layer
As a consequence of a moderate to strong wind from variable directions, wind slabs formed in the last few days in all aspects. In some cases the various wind slabs have bonded still only poorly with each other and the old snowpack, in particular on shady slopes at elevated altitudes. The weather conditions will foster a gradual stabilisation of the snow drift accumulations. Faceted weak layers exist in the centre of the snowpack in particular on very steep shady slopes, in particular at elevated altitudes in the central and eastern parts of the main Alpine ridge. Sunshine and high temperatures will give rise as the day progresses to slight moistening of the snowpack in particular on very steep sunny slopes.
Tendency
The weather conditions will foster a substantial stabilisation of the snow drift accumulations. The danger of wet avalanches will increase a little during the day.
