The new snow and wind slabs of the last few days must be evaluated with care and prudence.

The new snow can be released easily, or, in isolated cases, naturally. The fresh wind slabs of the last two days can be released by a single winter sport participant. Avalanches can in some cases reach medium size. Avalanche prone locations are to be found in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain. In high Alpine regions the avalanche prone locations are more prevalent.
In very isolated cases weak layers exist in the old snowpack in particular on shady slopes. This applies on very steep slopes above approximately 2200 m. These avalanche prone locations are covered with new snow and are difficult to recognise.

Snowpack

dp.6: cold, loose snow and wind

5 to 10 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, will fall on Friday. The fresh snow as well as the wind slabs can be released easily, or, in isolated cases naturally. In some places new snow is lying on soft layers.
In very isolated cases weak layers exist in the old snowpack in particular on shady slopes. This applies on very steep slopes above approximately 2200 m.
Below the tree line only a little snow is lying.

Tendency

Further increase in avalanche danger as a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation. On Saturday the likelihood of slab avalanches being released will increase significantly. Numerous loose snow avalanches are possible as the day progresses.

The new snow and wind slabs of the last few days must be evaluated with care and prudence.

Isolated small and, in isolated cases, medium-sized loose snow avalanches are possible as a consequence of the new snow. Avalanches can in some places be released, even by a single winter sport participant. The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular on steep shady slopes and in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain. The number and size of avalanche prone locations will increase with altitude.
Apart from the danger of being buried, restraint should be exercised in particular in view of the danger of avalanches sweeping people along and giving rise to falls.

Snowpack

Over a wide area 10 to 20 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, will fall until the evening above approximately 1800 m. In some places new snow is lying on soft layers. The fresh and older wind slabs are barely recognisable because of the poor visibility.
In very isolated cases weak layers exist in the old snowpack in particular on shady slopes. This applies on very steep slopes above approximately 2200 m. In particular below the tree line only a little snow is lying.

Tendency

As a consequence of warming during the day and the solar radiation, the likelihood of slab avalanches being released will increase gradually. More frequent loose snow avalanches are possible as the day progresses.

Fresh and older wind slabs require caution.

The fresh wind slabs can be released in isolated cases in particular on steep shady slopes above the tree line. The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular on very steep shady slopes, also at transitions into gullies and bowls. In very isolated cases avalanches are medium-sized. Apart from the danger of being buried, restraint should be exercised in particular in view of the danger of avalanches sweeping people along and giving rise to falls.

Snowpack

Some snow will fall in some regions. In isolated cases wind slabs are lying on soft layers, in particular on steep shady slopes at high altitude. Below the tree line only a little snow is lying.

Tendency

Hardly any decrease in danger as a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation. Numerous loose snow avalanches are possible as the day progresses, but they will be mostly small.
