Avalanches can in very isolated cases be released, in particular on very steep shady slopes at elevated altitudes. Such avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain. Mostly avalanches are only small. Apart from the danger of being buried, restraint should be exercised as well in view of the danger of avalanches sweeping people along and giving rise to falls.
Shady slopes: The snowpack consists of faceted crystals. Hard wind slabs are lying on soft layers at elevated altitudes.
As a consequence of northwesterly wind, small wind slabs formed in the last few days in isolated cases. The snowpack will be generally subject to considerable local variations. Monday: Some snow will fall in some regions. The wind will be strong in the vicinity of peaks.
The avalanche prone locations are rare. The hard wind slabs can be released in isolated cases. Tuesday: Above approximately 1500 m snow will fall. On Tuesday as a consequence of the new snow there will be a gradual increase in the avalanche danger. The wind will be strong in the vicinity of peaks.
