A generally favourable avalanche situation will prevail. Fresh wind slabs require caution.

As a consequence of new snow and a light to moderate wind from variable directions, mostly small wind slabs will form in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls. These are in some cases prone to triggering. Restraint should be exercised because avalanches can sweep people along and give rise to falls.

In addition mostly small dry loose snow avalanches are possible. This applies on extremely steep slopes above the tree line.

Snowpack

dp.6: cold, loose snow and wind

Over a wide area 10 to 20 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, will fall. The new snow will be deposited on soft layers in particular on shady slopes at elevated altitudes.

Only a small amount of snow is lying for the time of year.

Tendency

A generally favourable avalanche situation will prevail. More frequent mostly small dry loose snow avalanches are to be expected. In the event of solar radiation this applies on extremely steep slopes.

Fresh wind slabs require caution. Avalanches can in isolated cases be released in the old snowpack.

In addition mostly small dry loose snow avalanches are possible. This applies on extremely steep slopes above the tree line.

Weak layers in the old snowpack can still be released in isolated cases by winter sport participants in particular in little used terrain. Such avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular on extremely steep shady slopes at high altitudes and in high Alpine regions. Caution is to be exercised at transitions from a shallow to a deep snowpack, when entering gullies and bowls for example. The avalanche prone locations are barely recognisable, even to the trained eye. The avalanches are medium-sized.

Snowpack

dp.6: cold, loose snow and wind
dp.1: deep persistent weak layer

Over a wide area 5 to 15 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, will fall. The new snow will be deposited on soft layers in particular on shady slopes at elevated altitudes.
Faceted weak layers exist in the bottom section of the snowpack especially on west, north and east facing slopes. These can only be released in isolated cases.
At elevated altitudes snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. Only a small amount of snow is lying for the time of year.

Tendency

More frequent mostly small dry loose snow avalanches are to be expected. In the event of solar radiation this applies on extremely steep slopes.

The sometimes strong wind will transport the new snow and, in some cases, old snow as well. Weak layers deep in the old snowpack necessitate caution.

The small quantity of fresh snow and in particular local wind slabs must be evaluated with care and prudence in particular on steep shady slopes and at high altitude.
Winter sport participants can release avalanches in isolated cases, with a large load in most cases. Avalanches can in very isolated cases penetrate deep layers and reach medium size.

Snowpack

dp.1: deep persistent weak layer
dp.6: cold, loose snow and wind

The fresh wind slabs are lying on soft layers on wind-protected shady slopes at elevated altitudes. At elevated altitudes snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind.
Faceted weak layers exist in the bottom section of the snowpack especially on west, north and east facing slopes. These can be released in isolated cases.
Some snow will fall on Friday over a wide area. Until Saturday the wind will be strong.

Tendency

Fresh wind slabs at high altitude. On Friday the wind will be strong. Some snow will fall over a wide area.

On grassy slopes individual small to medium-sized gliding avalanches are possible. This applies in particular in the west on steep sunny slopes below approximately 2400 m.

Low avalanche danger will prevail.

The avalanches can be released by people. Avalanche prone locations for dry avalanches are to be found in particular on steep northwest, north and east facing slopes at high altitude, caution is to be exercised in particular in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain. Mostly avalanches are small.

Snowpack

Some snow will fall.
Faceted weak layers exist in the bottom section of the snowpack especially on shady slopes.
The snowpack will be moist at low and intermediate altitudes. At elevated altitudes snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind.

Tendency

The avalanche prone locations are rare. Low avalanche danger will prevail. Some snow will fall in some regions.
