New snow and wind slabs above the tree line. Gliding snow requires caution.

The new snow of Monday represents the main danger. As a consequence of new snow and a sometimes storm force wind, extensive wind slabs formed. This snow can be released easily, even by a single winter sport participant in particular on northwest to north to southeast facing aspects above the tree line. In particular in the regions exposed to heavier precipitation individual small and, in isolated cases, medium-sized slab avalanches are possible as a consequence of the snowfall.

Snowpack

dp.6: cold, loose snow and wind
dp.2: gliding snow

The snowpack is largely stable.
Steep shady slopes above the tree line: The snowpack is fairly homogeneous and has faceted crystals on the surface. Single skiers can release avalanches now only rarely.
The snowpack is largely stable and its surface has a crust that is strong in many cases. This applies in particular on steep sunny slopes. The surface of the snowpack and will hardly soften at all.
At low and intermediate altitudes hardly any snow is lying.

The avalanche conditions are favourable over a wide area.

Currently there are quite favourable conditions generally. Avalanches can still in isolated cases be released by large loads, but they will be small in most cases. This applies especially in extremely steep terrain, as well as at transitions from a shallow to a deep snowpack, when entering gullies and bowls for example. Elsewhere, avalanches can in some cases be released.
